Early in the Day!

For the most part, the culture here in the United States has changed drastically. With the coming of the working in shifts people have distinct sleep patterns. Whereas it was commonplace, at one time, for people to go to bed with the sun and rise with the chickens, now people are programmed by their alarm clock. Routines are discrete so much and fluctuate with most, that it is legitimately hard to set a definite time to do things that we would want to do the most. We sure have come a long ways from the farming way of life!

(Psalms 63:1) A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;" (Kjv)

No matter our geographical position, or the hours of work we put in, we must seek the Lord Jesus Early in our day! If our day begins at 9:00 am then we need to immediately get alone with the Lord. If it is at 9:00 pm, then we should do the same thing! Typically, we are at our best in the first few hours of our day. It is crucial to get a clear mind and have it bathed in the Word of God before the pressing issues come upon us.

(John 17:17) "Sanctify them straight through thy truth: thy word is truth." (Kjv)

There are some things we need to do when we get alone with our Lord in our quiet time. One thing we should seek is that of worship and adoring our King! There is nothing quite as satisfying as praising God and thanking Him for who He is. Many times I find that I thank Him for what He has done for Me. That is all well and good, but whether or not I receive anything from Him... He is worthy of my praise!

(1 John 1:7-10) "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is careful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (Kjv)

Old fashioned "fessin' time" is also needed. legitimately we should seek forgiveness of the Lord immediately when we sin. Waiting till our quiet time to confess is not needed. Do it when God speaks to you... Right then! That is far great than waiting hours until your next devotional break.

(1 Timothy 4:15-16) "Meditate upon these things; give thyself fully to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee." (Kjv)

The Bible reading and absorption you incur while your devotions is crucial to your spiritual growth. It often sets the procedure of your day. For example, just yesterday, I did not have my devotions the way I regularly do, and I did not read my Bible until later on in the day. Needless to say, I paid for it dearly. In fact, this instance is what prompted me to write this post. Reading just to read is not the point. The Bible is more than words on a page. Devour the Book! Muse upon the portions of Scripture you are examining. Memorizing them will help you in many ways; especially when temptation arises.

(Psalms 91:1) "He that dwelleth in the private place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." (Kjv)

(Matthew 6:6) "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in private shall bonus thee openly." (Kjv)

The time of prayer is vital to an empowering feel with our Lord. When was the last time you were the only one in the room physically, but the room got crowded? In His sermon of the mount, as we call it, Jesus referred to the closet of prayer. In other words, the place we frequent. Like most men, I often visit the refrigerator. However, how often do we see the significance of setting ourselves apart to converse with the Sovereign God of the universe.

"Prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night." -Fuller

It suffices to say that we need to seek the Lord Jesus Christ Early In The Day! Give God the best part of your day, not the leftovers. I can assure you that He is more concerned in meeting with you at your altar than you realize. Will you guard your private time with God? Will you invent Christ as illustrious in your Day, Life, and Career? One way to do so is by practicing what has been relayed here in this post!
